Nintendo Removes Sword and Shield from Future Copies of Pokémon

The newest shipment of Pokémon Sword and Pokémon Shield will be edited without the iconic weapons, Nintendo has reported.

“We have been facilitating people who abuse the second amendment and we need to stop. It’s the right thing to do,” Phil Spectre, Nintendo’s marketing director, commented.

From now on, all Pokémon will be seen without a sword or a shield. The iconic rpg will also get rid of any words that use cut or slash. Characters like Bulbasaur will have new moves like “Grass Reduce.” Other changes involve reducing Porygon’s laser clip from 12 shots to 8. Charmander’s flame stack will no longer “burn” characters, but will “emotionally wound” them.

“In some cases we wanted to diminish the idea that the Pokémon were different races battling in the streets. But we didn’t want to ruin the gameplay by axing the action scenes. After every Pokémon battle we open up dialog about the repercussions of different species of animals fighting and how we can come together as a community.”

The new social responsibility taken up by Nintendo is bold, but it doesn’t end there. Nintendo is remastering their DS Pokémon games for the changing times. I cannot wait to get my hands on Pokémon Black and Pokémon People of Color.
