SEGA OF AMERICA- Sometimes you can't win all the battles. In the newest compromise, Sega has announced that Sonic will have a new look, but in exchange he will have no legs.
Movie producer, Neal Horitz, talks about the rigorous negotiations around the new Sonic look. "The studio was not willing to budge on the new look. We finally talked them down to removing Sonic's legs."
This might prove to be troublesome as Sonic's gimmick is to run fast. Animators are already complaining that they have to remove all his running scenes with him just being a sitting torso.
Toki Hiroshi talks about this frustration, "We deleted 90% of the film and replaced it with Sonic lying idly on the ground. He looks beautiful, but he doesn't do much."
Time will tell if removing Sonic's legs for the movie will be a good decision or a bad one. Rumors are circulating that actor, Jim Carrey, will have to do the running scenes for Sonic.
