Sometimes heroes don't need to wear capes, but I didn't start this league for praise. I saw a problem and I jumped on it.
For years, kids have been wandering around the outdoors, letting the sun destroy their skin. It's reckless. The UV rays mixed with their physical exertion from strenuous exercise comes with a whole host of problems. If these kids are going to have a healthy future then I needed to act now.
So I started an eSports league for the youth who were abandoned to organized outdoor activities. It's time to reclaim our kids. I brought them into a dimly lit warehouse where each child was introduced to a laptop, a mouse, and a copy of Fortnite. Each Monday, Wednesday, and Friday is practice, where kids will spend four hours practicing online unranked matches. I picked those days so the local softball team would not afford the opportunity to trap kids back into a dangerous environment. I can't even imagine how a softball coach can justify handing kids violent bats.
It's all about the kids and my eSports League, The Sitting Tigers, knows how much I care. They are free to express themselves in a safe, lowly lit, portable screen environment. I keep their spirits up with encouragements. I might say, "Sally, blow his head off!" or "Tim, keep chopping up the team with that ax." After our four hours of intense practice, I treat the kids to Red Bull and gummy worms. It's important they keep their strength.
It's not about the honor and prestige, it's about being a responsible adult. I want our community that kids are safe inside a dark warehouse, sitting in front of a screen, and far away from heat stroke and skin cancer.
