Retro: The Tomb Raider Cheat Code: "Get to Know Lara as a Person"

Nothing excited the teenage male gamer more in the 90's than the "Get to Know Lara as a Person" cheat code for the Tomb Raider series.

This scandalous cheat code, coded in by some cheeky developers, was mostly likely created to boost  cheap ratings. Any hormone induced teen would be treated to some very intimate conversation about life, honor, friendship and the meaning of trust. Lara Croft would be helplessly forced to engage in meaningful relationships with the player.

For the small price of holding the select button on the title screen for a minute, performing a 540 somersault and landing on a blade of grass perfectly, gamers were treated to a titular conversation with Lara Croft.

Lara would immediately sit down on the nearest cinder block, pull out a kettle of tea and strike up a rousing conversation.

Here are the things she would reveal about herself:

"The weather here is lovely, aye."
"I've never told anyone this, but I sometimes fear commitment."
"British politics can be very exciting."
"Do you know any Robert Frost poems?"
"I don't want to be a career woman."
"I've just read something very interesting about global cooling."

Gamers could spend a full five minutes getting to know Lara as a person with feelings, ideas and dreams. Once the five minutes were over, however, gamers had to go back to the doldrums of taking down dinosaurs with dual pistols.
